The Battle Has Only Begun! (In response to my demands…)

Hi Everybody!

Yes, admittedly, my choice of language was inciting. I expect your list of demands to be inciting too! If they’re not, then you are probably not speaking from your heart! At this point in the game, smudging it all with political correctness seems quixotic…
It warms my heart to hear so many people could see through the cloud of offense and understand my intent. If you are still unsure, and need inspiration, please listen to The Beatles’ Revolution and have another read.

Abbie Hoffman had it right when he threw his stack of bills over the traders at the NYSE. He showed the world what pigs the bankers are! We need to think this way too!

The only thing we need not do is anything that doesn’t give benefit to the 99%. So, great to shutdown the national banker’s convention but not so good to shutdown a retail branch in the future (though, that was fun!) Rather than block traffic for workers at rush-hour, block the road in front of the cement mixers that are helping gentrify our city!

But, be careful about blocking the gas trucks- I saw it happen in the UK, and it really pissed off the 99%!We are transitioning into phase two of our movement- whatever that may be. We need to enter this place with a new perspective, one where we analyze PR impact on the hearts & minds of the people we are working to help! If we can do this, we will undoubtedly, have victory!

Love you all! (even Harsha, I mean it)

  1. Just a “heads up”. Class 1 and Class 3 drivers, ie dump trucks and transports are mostly just working stiffs with bills to pay. Many get paid by the load, not the hour, and if they spend all day at a blockade, they wont get paid that day. I would respectfully suggest that gentrification starts at city hall or head office, not in the cab of a cement truck. I would also point out that many of them are teamsters, aka union brothers who actually support OV.

If we really want an evolution (instead of a revolution) we need to stop perpetuating the US versus THEM mentality. Bankers are simply better at playing that systemic game that we all helped created. They will not give up their stranglehold if they don’t have a place in our new society.

  3. Ian- I couldn’t agree with you more!

I’ll refer to the words I spoke to the crowds on October 15th- “It’s not the people, It’s the system (stupid)”.

Thanks for keeping me honest! I truly appreciate your input. Can I buy you a coffee sometime?

  4. As Ian pointed out the us versus them mentality is our downfall, it’s what the decriers of the movement want – they want us to be pitched against a broader cross section of society, making it easier to demonize the cause.

And it is that broader cross section; that moderate who we need to reach out to. We cannot practice the: if your are not with us, then you are against us mentality, because just as the right has done this so has the hard left.

When we espouse violence or practice a form of civil disobedience that is perceived as punitive to the general population we lose that individual or family that supports the greater cause.

This movement will be embraced if it’s motives are noble and not self serving, and not based upon dogma or rhetoric.
